As one of the newest residence halls in the Missouri State University housing system, residents living in Monroe Apartments are residing in a LEED-certified and LEED-designed facility. LEED buildings are designed to be “greener” than other buildings and help to contribute to the University’s sustainability efforts. Monroe Apartments houses 126 upper classmen.
Each apartment contains private bedrooms and full baths to accommodate up to 4 people. Kitchens are fully furnished and feature cherry cabinets, granite countertops and stainless steel appliances. Each apartment has a front-loading washer and dryer.
Monroe Apartments are open during all University breaks and have no visitation policy. Monroe Apartments are completely wireless and are connected to the University’s network via data ports in each room.
One attractive feature in this building is the Gathering Room on the first floor. This area would be an excellent place to work on a group project or to gather before going to a sports event on campus.
Monroe Apartments residents are required to provide proof of rental insurance. The University cannot be held responsible for any damage or loss of property due to fire, power surges, power loss, facility failure, theft, severe weather, or other acts of nature. In addition, the University shall not be liable for injuries that occur in and around apartments.
Monroe Apartments residents are not required to purchase a meal plan but are encouraged to purchase any of the traditional meal plans provided or to contact Dining Services to arrange for an additional meal plan. Many current residents of Monroe Apartments prefer the Bear Pack meal plan that offers 60 meals per semester for use in the Dining Centers (Blair-Shannon, Garst, or Kentwood) and $270 BoomerMeals.
There is a limited amount of reserved parking available for Monroe Apartments residents. The cost is $30.00 per month, billed by semester. Spaces are reserved on a first-come, first-served basis. Residents may contact the reception desk at Monroe for more information. Monroe residents who do not utilize the reserved parking may contact the Department of Safety and Transportation for a parking permit elsewhere. The University is not responsible for losses or damages to automobiles or other personal property located in the parking lots surrounding the residence halls.
