 declared major or minor in the Darr College of Agriculture.

This LLC is supported by the Darr College of Agriculture and is perfect for students who have a passion for animal science, plant science, environmental science, agribusiness, hospitality leadership, sustainability, and more. Whether you are interested in the farm to table process or ways that we care for animals, Agriculture Bears will provide opportunities to get hands-on experience and learn about everything from wildlife conservation to agribusiness to hospitality management and more.

Bears Business Community

Current Location: Heitz House
2025–2026 Location: Heitz House
Eligibility: A declared major in the College of Business.

This LLC is supported by the College of Business and is ideal for students interested in business and leadership opportunities. Students have the opportunity to participate in social and educational programs related to academics, professional development, and personal growth. Students in this LLC will be connected with co-curricular opportunities as well as tours to local businesses and service to the community.

Bears for a Just Community

Current Location: Woods House
2025–2026 Location: Woods House
Eligibility: Students in all majors interested in exploring issues related to social justice, diversity, and inclusion.

Become an advocate and make a difference. Expand your cultural competence and awareness as an individual and as a member of a community. Explore issues like homelessness and poverty, access to food, education and other resources, LGBTQIA+ rights, reducing inequalities, and service to others. Members expand their social and moral development as individuals and as a community.

Bears for Sustainability

Current Location: Hammons House
Eligibility: S
tudents in all majors interested in sustainability.

Students will become environmentally responsible citizens through education and community outreach opportunities that promote sustainability. Join the green movement by learning to live sustainably and create positive environmental, social and economic change on a local and global scale.

Creative Minds

Current Location: Woods House
2025–2026 Location: Woods House
Eligibility: Students in all majors who have an interest or passion for different forms of art (digital design, animation, film-making, theatre, music, photography, painting, and writing).

A community for students who are creative and want to live with like-minded creators. Major events have included a talent showcase, “craft-ernoons,” art workshops, and opportunities to see performances and shows around Springfield.

First-Year Bears

Current Locations: Freudenberger, Hammons, Hutchens, and Wells Houses
2025–2026 Locations: Hammons, Hutchens, and Wells Houses
Eligibility: First-year students in all majors.

This community is designed to enhance each student’s first year of college and help ease the transition into college life. Students will learn about academic resources and explore the campus and Springfield community with other first-year students. Students on these floors receive numerous opportunities to interact with other students and to get involved on campus. In addition, students interact with faculty and staff members in a relaxed setting outside the classroom.

Fit & Well

Current Location: Freudenberger House
2025–2026 Location: Freudenberger House
Eligibility: Students in all majors with an interest in health, wellness, and fitness.

This is an ideal community for students interested in health, wellness, sport, and fitness opportunities on campus, as well as exploring ways to adopt lifelong healthy behaviors. Students will have the opportunity to participate in activities and experiences focusing on fitness, wellness, and overall health.

Finding Your Path

Current Location: Shannon House
2025–2026 Location: Shannon House
Eligibility: Students who do not have a declared major and are undecided.

College is an adventure! Explore academic options at Missouri State University in a fun, creative way. Students can also explore which major is right for them or discover new areas of passion within their current major or future career plans. Through active hands-on learning, students can discover how individual passions relate to different majors and career choices. 

Future Educators

Eligibility: Students with a declared major in the College of Education or Secondary Education.

Are you passionate about the development and education of children and adolescents and sharing your passion for learning with others? This community is designed for students intending to be teachers or pursue a career in the field of education. Live with other like-minded individuals, get connected with College of Education faculty members, and explore all that MSU and Springfield have to offer future professionals.

Future Health Care Professionals

Current Location: Blair House
2025–2026 Location: Blair House
Eligibility: Students with a declared major in the McQueary College of Health and Human Services or Pre-Health.

Supported by the McQueary College of Health and Human Services (MCHHS), this LLC is an ideal living community for those interested in a health care or human services profession. Students have the opportunity to live with and learn from other students who have shared interests and goals in the health care professions while attending events that allow them to connect with faculty, alumni, or local health care professionals or organizations.

Global Community

Current Location: Hammons House
2025–2026 Location: Heitz House
Eligibility: Students with an expressed interest in sharing international cultures and language.

The Global LLC is focused on establishing relationships among students of varying cultural backgrounds and providing deeper understandings of cultural perspectives and events. The Global LLC creates connections between international and domestic students on the floor.

Honors Community

Current Location: Scholars House

Eligibility: Students admitted to the Honors College.

Honors Community is a home for intellectual engagement with students from a variety of academic areas sharing ideas and learning together. Get connected to the Honors College through regular contact with faculty and staff members inside and outside the classroom.

Leadership

The Leadership LLC is a community geared toward students who have an interest in all things leadership. This will focus on exploring leadership styles, identifying strengths, and networking with campus and community leaders.

STEM

Current Location: Blair House
2025–2026 Location: Blair House
Eligibility: Students with a declared major in the College of Natural and Applied Sciences.

Perfect for the budding scientist, mathematician, or engineer, like-minded students share in creating a community of scholars supported by the College of Natural and Applied Sciences (CNAS). Students participate in hands-on learning, field trips, and outreach. This community gives students the opportunity to engage with the Dean and professors outside of the classroom. Explore options, find internships and make friends!

Transfer Bears

Eligibility: Transfer students in all majors.

This LLC is for transfer students! Make your Missouri STATEment through shared experiences with other transfer students by joining community of students who are new to the University but not new to college. Learn about Missouri State and Springfield while making lasting campus connections and prepare for the path to graduation.
