Communities Blend Living and Learning

Missouri State University offers 12 unique living environments that build community among students with similar interests. Whether you are a new student or have a passion for a given field, these Living-Learning communities (LLC) will provide opportunities to enhance your college experience.

Bears Business Community

This LLC is offered to first-year students.

This LLC is a group supported by the College of Business (COB) and is ideal for students interested in business and leadership opportunities.  Students have the opportunity to participate in social and educational programs related to academics, wellness, and personal growth.

Bears for a Just Community

This LLC is offered to first-year and returning students.

Become an advocate and make a difference.  Explore issues like homelessness and poverty, education, immigration, LGBTQ rights, and health care.  Members expand their social and moral development as individuals and as a community.

Bears for Sustainability

This LLC is offered to first-year and returning students.

Students will become environmentally responsible citizens through education and community outreach opportunities that promote sustainability. Join the green movement by committing to live sustainably and creating positive environmental change locally and globally.

Creative Minds

This LLC is offered to first-year students.

A community for students who love to perform or create and want to live with like-minded artists.  Major events include a talent showcase, “craft-ernoons,” art workshops, and opportunities to see shows around Springfield and beyond.

First-Year Bears

This LLC is offered to first-year students.

Designed to enhance each student’s first year of college and help ease the transition into college life.  Students on these floors receive numerous opportunities to interact with other students and to get involved on campus.  In addition, students interact with faculty members in a relaxed setting outside the classroom. 

Fit and Well

This LLC is offered to first-year and returning students.

This is an ideal community for students interested in health, wellness, sport, and fitness opportunities on campus, as well as exploring ways to adopt lifelong healthy behaviors. Students will have the opportunity to participate in activities and experiences focusing on fitness, wellness, and overall health.

Follow Your Passion

This LLC is offered to first-year students.

College is an adventure!  Explore academic options at Missouri State University in a fun, creative way.  Through active hands-on learning, FYP residents discover how individual passions relate to different majors and career choices.

Future Health Care Professionals

This LLC is offered to first-year and returning students.

Sponsored by the College of Health and Human Services (CHHS), this LLC is an ideal living community for those interested in a health care or human services profession.  Students have the opportunity to live with and learn from other students who have shared interests and goals in the health care professions.

Honors Community

This LLC is offered to first-year and returning students.

A home for intellectual engagement, with students from a variety of academic areas sharing ideas and learning together.  Get connected to the Honors College through regular contact with faculty and staff members inside and outside the classroom.

Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math

This LLC is offered to first-year students.

Perfect for the budding scientist, mathematician, or engineer, like-minded students share in creating a community of scholars sponsored by the College of Natural and Applied Sciences (CNAS).  Students participate in activities and through hands-on learning, field trips, and outreach.

Second-Year Bears

This LLC is offered to returning students.

First-year students who want to continue their LLC experience can take part in the Second-Year Bears.  This program focuses on career and graduate school exploration and preparation, leadership experience, personal wellness, financial responsibility, public affairs activities, and much more. 

Transitions

This LLC is offered to transfer students.

Follow your passion and find your place at Missouri State University through shared experiences with other transfer students.  Join a community of students who are new to the university but not new to college life.  Create friendships that will last a lifetime.
