This LLC, located in Shannon House for the 2017-2018 academic year, is for first-year, returning, and transfer students in all majors.
Are you passionate about human rights? Do today’s social issues form the foundation of your soapbox? Are you ready to find strength in numbers and advocate for a just community? If your answers are yes, this is the LLC for you.
Become an advocate and make a difference. Explore issues such as but not limited to homelessness and poverty, education, immigration, LGBTQ rights, and health care. Members of Bears for a Just Community LLC will have opportunities to get out into the community, explore issues, and converse with other social justice individuals to develop their minds and actions as individuals and community members.
Experiences include activities like:
- “Bridegroom” Movie Night and discussion
- “Fear of saying the wrong thing”- Diversity Panel
- Boys and Girls Club Volunteering
- Freaky Fairbanks Haunted House
- SafeZone Training
- Sammy’s Window Service Project
- The Rare Breed Service Project
