Woods House provides 376 men and women a 10-story residence hall with single-gendered floors. The friendly environment and the 10th floor common area remain two aspects that students like most about the facility. The combination of fun people and a location to gather bond the residents into their own small community.
The double-occupancy room plan includes a desk, desk chair, overhead bookshelf, closet, bunkable bed and drawer storage for each resident. Each room is completely smoke and tobacco-free and equipped with a refrigerator and microwave oven, as well as a sink unique to Woods House. Bathing facilities are located on each floor with ample individual stalls and showers.
A special feature of Woods House is its 10th floor common area. It offers a beautiful view of campus and the surrounding Springfield community. This common area provides a TV lounge, fitness center, central kitchen facility, laundry room, ice and vending machines, music practice room, study lounge and recreation area. On the first floor is a grand lounge and computer lab, offering the latest in hardware and software technology, including access to the Internet, word processing and spreadsheet packages, and laser printing. Woods House enforces a limited (weekend-only) visitation policy, is closed during winter and spring breaks and requires a meal plan of all residents.
In addition, Woods House residents who have their own computer and Ethernet card may connect to the university's network through the network modules provided in each room. Access to the Internet and laser printing facilities are available. More information about required specifications for computers and network cards needed to receive access to the network are on our ResNET pages.
