Wells House, our very first residence hall, houses 490 men and women. This U-shaped, centrally located residence hall is designed with 2- and 3-person room-style accommodations, as well as 4-person suite-style accommodations, all on single-gender floors.

Each smoke and tobacco free room-style living unit is equipped with moveable furniture including a desk, desk chair, bunkable bed, overhead bookshelf, drawer and underbed storage and a wardrobe for each student. The floors are tiled and a microwave and refrigerator are provided in each room.

The smoke and tobacco free suite-style living units, reserved for upper-class students, include two carpeted bedrooms connected to a living room providing a sofa, arm chairs, end and coffee tables, dining table and chairs, bookshelf, area rug, and kitchenette complete with sink, microwave, refrigerator and counter space.

A large bathroom is located on each floor providing ample individual stalls and showers. Also available on each floor is a study lounge. Residents of Wells House are encouraged to make use of the large grand lounge, TV lounge, fitness and aerobic centers, music practice rooms, vending room, large central kitchen with ice machine, central laundry facility, and computer lab offering the latest in hardware and software technology, including access to the Internet, word processing and spreadsheet packages, and laser printing. Wells House enforces a limited (weekend only) visitation policy on all room-style floors, and a more liberal visitation policy on the suite-style, upper-class floors. Wells House is closed during winter and spring breaks and requires a meal plan of all residents.

In addition, Wells House residents who have their own computer and Ethernet card may connect to the university's network through the network modules provided in each room. Access to the Internet and laser printing facilities are available. More information about required specifications for computers and network cards needed to receive access to the network are on our ResNET pages.
