What are the expectations for the students living on these floors?

We expect residents of these communities to be involved in at least three activities on the floors, whether they are social or educational in nature. To help encourage students to participate, there are various incentives provided at the end of each month. We expect residents to abide by the policies outlined in the Guide to Residence Hall Living. Those who continue to disrupt the community through policy violations may be asked to move to another floor. We will ask that students stay on the floor for the year because programs and activities build upon each other as the year progresses. If a student wants to leave earlier, we would ask that he/she leave at semester. If extenuating circumstances arise, the student can discuss them with the Coordinator for Residential Academic Programs. Students will be asked to sign an agreement during the kick-off banquet where we'll outline the guidelines and expectations.

Will they have regular social activities planned for them throughout the year?

All floors have social activities, and these communities will not be the exception. There are weekly activities that will encourage interaction between the residents.

Does everyone in the Living-Learning Communities do things together?

There will be monthly large-scale programs where students from all the LLC floors will come together.  At other times, programs and events will be planned for the floor.

The brochure mentions access to professors; is this something special for this group?

Yes, professors will be asked to spend time with a specific floor. The faculty will interact with the residents during educational activities as well as in social times. Our goal is to increase faculty and student interactions.

If a student can't move in on August 20, is it okay to move in on August 21?

We want all students living in these communities to move in on August 20, 2009, so that they have time to get settled before we have the kick-off event on August 21.
